scams Cybercriminals
are devising new tricks to get people to reveal personal or sensitive
information. This technique is referred to as "phishing."
Internet scammers use spam or pop-up messages to deceive people into disclosing credit card numbers, bank account information, Social Security number, passwords, or other sensitive information.
The most common form of phishing is by email that appears to come from a
legitimate financial institution asking people to verify account
information. Be suspicious if someone contacts you unexpectedly and asks for your personal information.
